Steps to Licensure

1. Choose Category
Find the nursing licence that fits your background: RN, LPN (RPN in Ontario), Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), or NP.
2. Choose Province
Find your regulator and confirm your pathway (NNAS, Ontario ECA, or another provincial/territorial route).
3. Verify Credentials
Start document verification so your education and registration can be assessed (route depends on where you apply).
4. Meet Language Rules
Show proof of English or French proficiency using the tests or documents your regulator accepts.
5. Apply to the Regulator
Submit your official application, pay fees, and follow your regulator’s checklist until your file is marked complete.
6. Jurisprudence & Background Check
Complete jurisprudence and submit your criminal record check.
7. Assessment / Bridging (If Needed)
If gaps are found, complete an assessment or bridging.
8. Write Exam & Get Licensed
Write your exam and complete final licensing steps.
