Speciality accreditation:
If you received specialty training other than family medicine outside of Canada, you have one of the following two possible options for obtaining accreditation and practicing as a specialist in Canada.
Approved Jurisdiction Route
International medical graduates who have finished specialist training in a country that is one of the Royal College’s recognized jurisdictions and whose training was planned, overseen, and accredited can apply for the Approved Jurisdiction route. (please be informed that not all areas of expertise are recognized in every country). To know more, click here.
Practice eligibility route
If you have not received specialty training from the approved jurisdictions but have received specialty training from other colleges or countries, you can still have your specialty training accredited by the Royal College of Canada via the Practice Ready Eligibility route. To learn more, click here.
