PEBC Document Evaluation

The PEBC Document Evaluation is the formal assessment of a pharmacist’s educational credentials to determine whether they meet Canadian standards for pharmacy education. This step is mandatory for internationally educated pharmacists before proceeding to PEBC examinations.

Purpose of Document Evaluation

PEBC reviews your:

  • Pharmacy degree(s)

  • Academic transcripts

  • Professional credentials (if applicable)

The goal is to confirm that your education is comparable to a Canadian pharmacy degree.

Minimum Educational Requirement

  • A minimum four-year undergraduate degree in pharmacy is required.

  • Degrees must be awarded by a recognized institution.

  • PEBC evaluates both program structure and content, not just the degree title.

Validity of Document Evaluation Results

  • Document Evaluation results are valid for five (5) years from the date shown on your results letter.

  • If the validity period expires before you complete the required PEBC examinations, a Document Re-evaluation will be required.

Education Verification

  • Pharmacy degree certificate (if not included on the transcript)

  • Official academic transcript sent directly by the university

Licensing Verification

  • Currently licensed: Licensing statements from all authorities where you are or were registered

  • Previously licensed: Licensing statements plus a statutory declaration

  • Never licensed: Statutory declaration confirming no prior licensure

Licensing documents must be current, authentic, and complete. Incomplete licensing history may delay evaluation.

Step 4: Results

  • Once assessment is complete, a Document Evaluation results letter is issued through your PEBC Portal (Digital Wallet).

  • Results are typically released within 5 business days after completion.

  • Approved candidates will see additional applications (e.g., examinations or ECA, if applicable) appear automatically in the Portal.

Document Re-evaluation

Document Re-evaluation is required if:

  • Your Document Evaluation results have expired, and

  • You have not completed the required PEBC examinations within the validity period

Applications are submitted through the PEBC Portal and may require updated documents and additional fees.

Educational Credential Assessment (ECA)

PEBC is authorized to issue Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) reports for Canadian immigration programs when Pharmacy is the primary occupation.

  • ECA applications are separate from Document Evaluation

  • ECA reports follow IRCC requirements and expiry rules
