Newfoundland Registration Pathway: Long Roadmap for IEMs
For midwives trained outside of Canada and wanting to register with The College of Midwives of Newfoundland and Labrador (CMNL), they must:
Step 1
Complete a bridging or assessment program (e.g., in British Columbia, Ontario or Québec).
Step 2
Write the Canadian Midwifery Registration Exam (CMRE).
Step 3
Register with the CMNL (through the Newfoundland and Labrador Council of Health Professionals).
Language requirements
No requirements are specifically mentioned with the CMNL. It may be assumed that prior learning and assessment or bridging programs will require recent evidence of English or French Language testing. Applicants should refer to those programs’ specific requirements and consider contacting the CMNL for additional information regarding language proficiency.
