New Brunswick Registration Pathway: Long Roadmap for IEMs
For Registered Midwives currently practising in a country other than Canada, please contact the Registrar.
Step 1
Successful completion of a bridging program. There are no bridging programs available in the Atlantic Region, including New Brunswick. For more information on where to apply, please see the Canadian Regulators Midwifery Council website.
Step 2
Step 3
Proficiency in English or French.
Step 4
Current certifications for:
-
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within one (1) year;
- Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) within one (1) year; and,
- Midwifery Emergency Skills within two (2) years.
Step 5
Clinical experience of a minimum of 60 births within the last five (5) years including at least 10 home births.
Step 6
Criminal Record Check.
Step 7
Registration fee to the Registrar of the Midwifery Council of New Brunswick.
Step 8
Status of being legally entitled to work in Canada.
Step 9
Proof of professional liability insurance or of employment with a Regional Health Authority in New Brunswick.
