- Determine province or territory (and language requirements) where wish to practice as a midwife.
- Complete approved midwifery bridging program or orientation and assessment program.
- Complete Canadian Midwifery Regulators Council (CMRC) national midwifery examination, called the Canadian Midwifery Registration Exam (CMRE).
- Register with midwifery regulatory body as midwife in province or territory.
- Secure work as midwife (this step may need to happen before 4).
